The Sophia trench coat was cut for real winters: school runs, late trains, long walks between one warm room and the next. It runs S to XL in a single deep brown, and the fit is generous, with room to layer underneath.
What Makes It Work
- Double-breasted: fasten it high for the coldest days, or drop the top button and let the lapel fall open.
- Tartan-lined collar: the check shows only when the collar is turned up — a detail for the wearer, not the room.
- Roomy through the body: cut to slide over a chunky jumper without pulling at the shoulders.
- Structured collar: holds its shape open or turned up against the weather.
Where It Goes
Layer it over a chunky knit for the coldest weeks, then over a shirt alone once the weather softens. It works with trousers, denim, midi skirts and dresses without adjustment.
Care Notes
Dry clean recommended to protect the structure. Spot-clean small marks with a damp cloth. Steam rather than iron, and rest it on a broad hanger between wears.

Questions, Answered
Does it run true to size?
It is cut oversized on purpose. Take your usual size for the intended look, or size down once for a closer fit.
How warm is it, really?
It is built for autumn through mild winter. Over a jumper it handles a proper cold snap; over a shirt alone it suits milder autumn days.
Will it hold up in the rain?
It handles drizzle and short downpours comfortably. For sustained heavy rain, treat it as showerproof rather than a technical waterproof shell.
Our pieces are cut to US sizing (XS–XXL; shoes in US sizes). Most customers take their usual size. Planning to layer a thick knit underneath a coat? Consider one size up.

We choose fabrics for how they wear over many seasons: dense wool blends for coats, soft knits that hold their shape, and leathers that age well.
- Knitwear: hand wash cold or gentle wool cycle, dry flat.
- Coats & jackets: spot clean or professional dry clean; hang on a wide hanger.
- Leather & suede: brush gently, protect with a suitable spray, keep away from heat.
