Hand wash cool or use a wool cycle inside a mesh bag. Reshape while damp and dry flat — never hang wet knitwear. Cool iron under a cloth if needed.

Will it fit over a shirt?
It will. The body is cut with layering room, so a collared shirt underneath will not pull across the back or shoulders.
Is this a good gift?

Will the knit pill?
Some surface pilling is normal on soft yarns in the first few wears. A cheap fabric comb removes it in seconds and it settles down after that.
